Connect Reel-E to Claude Code

Claude Code works from your terminal, so it can also upload photos straight from a folder on your computer.

Server address: https://www.reel-e.ai/mcp

How you sign in: Sign in to Reel-E in your browser (OAuth), or use a key from Connect an agent.

Credits: anything that uses a credit asks for your confirmation first.

What you need

  • A Reel-E account. Reel-E is free to try · Cancel anytime.
  • Claude Code installed and signed in.
  • A web browser on the same computer, to sign in to Reel-E once.

Add Reel-E

  1. In your terminal, run:

claude mcp add --transport http reel-e https://www.reel-e.ai/mcp
A terminal showing the command claude mcp add --transport http reel-e https://www.reel-e.ai/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code (claude) and type /mcp. Reel-E shows as needing sign-in. Choose it and follow the browser prompt, or run claude mcp login reel-e from the shell.

  3. Reel-E opens in your browser. Sign in, choose what Claude Code may do and press Allow. The page says you return to the app on this computer and may mark it as an app Reel-E does not know yet. That is normal for a terminal tool you started yourself. Only continue if you started this connection.

  4. Back in the terminal, /mcp shows Reel-E connected.

To share it with your project instead of just yourself, add --scope project (writes .mcp.json), or --scope user for all your projects.

Use a key instead of signing in

If you cannot open a browser on this machine:

  1. In Reel-E open Keylight Studio and the AI Director panel, then click the plug button and choose Connect an agent.

  2. Name it Claude Code. Keep Read and Edit on. Leave credits, publishing and new listings off so Claude Code asks you first.

  3. Copy the key. It is shown once.

  4. Then run:

claude mcp add --transport http reel-e https://www.reel-e.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"

What it can and cannot do

Your assistant can look at your listings and videos, change the order of shots, the music, titles, text and branding, check your listing website and video stats, and start a new listing video.

Anything that uses a credit, publishes your website, or starts a new listing waits for your yes, unless you gave that connection permission to go ahead on its own. Every edit has an Undo.

With your permission it can get your finished video ready and give you the download link. It cannot start a plan or change billing, or see other people's listings.

See every tool in the tool reference.

How sign-in works

Most assistants open a Reel-E sign-in page where you choose what they may do (OAuth). Your assistant never sees your password. If an assistant asks for a key instead, make one in Reel-E: open Keylight Studio and the AI Director panel, click the plug button and choose Connect an agent. A key is shown once.

What to say first

  • List my Reel-E listings.
  • Make a listing video for 12 Harbor Lane, Springfield from the photos in ~/Listings/12-harbor-lane.
  • Move the kitchen photo to the front and make the title Just Listed.

For photos in a folder, Claude asks Reel-E for an upload address for each photo and sends the files straight from your computer.

If something goes wrong

  • /mcp shows failed with a 401. Run claude mcp login reel-e again, or make a new key.
  • The browser did not open. Copy the address Claude Code prints into a browser. If the redirect fails after you press Allow, paste the full callback address back into the terminal prompt.
  • A tool returned too much text. Ask for a summary of one part, for example "just the music".
  • A slow step stops. Reel-E videos take a few minutes. Ask "how is it going?" and Claude checks the status.

Disconnect

Run claude mcp remove reel-e. Then in Reel-E go to Account settings, Profile, Connected apps and choose Disconnect. That is what really ends the connection, and the key or token stops working at once.

You stay in control

You decide what the assistant may do. On the sign-in screen, choose Full control, where it does the whole job without stopping, or Ask me first, where anything that uses a credit, publishes your website or starts a new listing waits for your yes in Reel-E. You can pick which listings it can reach. You can disconnect any time in Reel-E under Account settings, Profile, Connected apps, and the connection stops at once. Reel-E only shares what the assistant needs to do what you asked, and your assistant's maker handles it under their own terms.
